Please join us on Wed., Nov. 1 at 3:30 pm in Watson 3 West for a teach in focused on the intersection of social justice and the media. The teach in will feature lightening talks by Dave Tell, associate professor of Communication Studies, regarding his work with the Emmett Till Memory Project; Meggie Mapes, instructor in Communications Studies, will present “Am I a troll?: Feminist public pedagogy and new media interventions”; Joseph Erba, assistant professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications, will present “Racial/ethnic media stereotypes: Effects and counter representations”; and Katie Batza, assistant professor in International & Interdisciplinary Studies and Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies, will present “Getting diversity on the map: Marketing sights of commemoration with the National Park Service.” Following the talks, there will be a question and answer or informal discussion.
